Reoccurring Trends

Several new and unusual trends made appearances during the Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear Fashion Show in Fall 2010. One trend that stood out was the use of unique animals and tropical prints, now seen in several magazine issues. We will begin noticing this trend more and more as the weather makes it's way into Spring. Several designers including Mui Mui, Prada, and Stella McCartney each established this as their most prominent trend for Spring 2011, while using very bold primary colors throughout each of their designs. Another trend seen by several designers, including Derek Lam's show for Spring 2011, was the stacked sole wedge, demonstrated in several shoe designs for this season. Now lets look into how we can translate this trend into Children's Wear!

Fashionable from birth...

Eager for spring, the perfect pairing--a classic denim jacket and floral dress.
Little girls posses the most effortless sense of style; some put together looks all on their own, others with the help of a fashionable mentor.

Urban apparel meets playtime at the park.
Although most wild and adventurous boys turn to comfort in concern to dress, this casual style found him naturally.

No matter how small the girl, the bigger the glasses--the better.
Learning young, the most important lesson a girl discovers is you can never have too many pairs of sunglasses.

Learning the tricks of the trade, at such a young age!
Most little boys throw a fit at the thought of dressing up, but when raised by a family full of girls, he knows his task for the day is to impress EVERY girl at the bus stop.

Young Fashion that Inspires

A true and genuine sense of style comes from those who have yet to be influenced by the outside fashion world-our youth. I was a rare situation when it comes to my childhood and fashion. From the moment I had the ability to pick out my own clothes, I would decide EVERY Sunday what  I planned to wear for the week.....down to every single detail! (even my underoos, as I called them) It seems as though I picked up my love for fashion at a young age. Young fashion is much more exciting than that of an adult because kids choose to be unique and wear what they feel fits to their personality....not follow EVER trend the world is following.
